Product Description
-------------------
Siemens SPD device provides whole house surge protection. This
device takes up the space of two standard single pole breakers,
but also includes two single pole breakers so you do not lose any
space in your Load Center. Once connected in the panel, the SPD
device protects the entire panel and all branch circuits from
surges, not just the two circuits connected to the SPD. Initial
clamping level is 240 Volts. LED's provide protection status
notification. Siemens strongly recommends against the use of
"used" breakers. The installation of used breakers in a Siemens
panel will void the warranty on the panel. Siemens does not sell
used breakers and has not approved any 3rd party sellers to do
so.

In today's electronic world, your home's electrical, phone and
cable systems are incomplete unless they incorporate surge
protection. Since most everything in the home is microelectronic
based, it is not practical to solely rely on surge protected plug
strips. By installing this Siemens circuit breaker and surge
protective device (SPD) in the load center of your home, surge
protection is provided for all branch circuits. This version
(model QSA2020SPD) is rated at 20 amps, and it's also available
in a 15 amp version.

). The QSA2020SPD features a highly effective TVSS integrated
with two 1-pole circuit breakers and incorporates the robust
features of a secondary circuit breaker surge arrester with a
lower clamping voltage ratings. Once connected in the panel, the
SPD device protects the entire panel and all branch circuits from
surges, not just the two circuits connected to the SPD.
Two green LEDs provide protection status notification, and the
device will notify you of any loss of surge protection by
tripping one or both of the circuit breakers. These breakers
should be used for circuit protection of frequently used
household or facility circuits as the lights and devices
connected to these circuits provide an effective indication that
surge protection is being provided. All Type QP circuit breakers
and SPD are plug-on style, with load terminals provided. The
devices are rated for 120/240V AC and are calibrated for 40
degrees C maximum ambient applications.
Surge Protective Devices
------------------------
To effectively surge protect your appliances and other sensitive
electronic equipment, you need to stop surges before they get
into your home and also control surges generated inside your
home. Damaging surges enter your home primarily through the main
utility power source, coax and telephone services. When left
unprotected, surges will permeate throughout the home damaging
electronics and appliances.
What is a surge?
----------------
A surge, sometimes called a transient or a spike, is a brief
burst of energy (voltage and current). The most damaging surges
enter through your home's power, cable and telephone lines.
However, the majority of surges originate within the home from
the action of motor based appliances like dishwashers,
refrigerators, garage door openers, etc.
How do surges affect my equipment?
----------------------------------
Large surges can damage equipment by "burning up" the internal
components of your sensitive electronic equipment and appliances.
Moderate surges disrupt equipment operation and damage internal
components. Lower energy surges degrade equipment, which is
referred to in the industry as "electronic rust."
Why do you need this type of surge protection?
----------------------------------------------
The only way to surge protect microelectronic based appliances is
through the application of an incoming service entrance surge
protector like a Siemens SPD.
