Electrical connectors worked with old models.
Plugged right into the 15+ year old ceiling mounts. Work perfectly. You can even program a room name to each unit. The only critiques is that it would be nice to more room names to choose from (for instance it would great to have primary, secondary, tertiary etc.. bedroom names, also living room, family room).

Malfunctioned Quickly
It is easy to setup & connect, however only lasted 4 months before malfunctioning. The silence button does seem to work though.

Good alarm that is photoelectric
Only had 1 AA battery in it, but I do like that it uses AA batteries (need 2) and that it tells you which room activated it "Evacuate Now, Smoke Detected In The Kitchen" and these new ones have a different siren than the other first alert detectors and they all have a silence button now so I don't have to pull them off the ceiling.

No more false alerts!
We had one brand new smoke/ CO detector giving false alarms in the middle of the night so had to try again. Had bought 6 new detectors with one dud included. Didnt appear that I could warranty it as I lost receipt and had bought from eBay. This smoke detector has been working great and have had no more false alarms at 2am!

Updated First Alert fits prior First Alert hard wired smoke alarms.
We have 8 of these in our house between the garage and the basement, all the bedrooms etc. They are very loud and I can personally attest that you cannot sleep through them. They do wear out after 10 years and should be replaced. These new models fit the old base units making the update seamless and painless.
