From award-winning author Sara Pennypacker comes the long-awaited sequel to Pax ; this is a gorgeously crafted, utterly compelling novel about chosen families and the healing power of love. A New York Times bestseller! Itโs been a year since Peter and his pet fox, Pax, have seen each other. Once inseparable, they now lead very different lives. Pax and his mate, Bristle, have welcomed a litter of kits they must protect in a dangerous world. Meanwhile Peterโnewly orphaned after the war, racked with guilt and lonelinessโleaves his adopted home with Vola to join the Water Warriors, a group of people determined to heal the land from the scars of the war. When one of Pax's kits falls desperately ill, he turns to the one human he knows he can trust. And no matter how hard Peter tries to harden his broken heart, love keeps finding a way in. Now both boy and fox find themselves on journeys toward home, healingโand each other, once again. As he did for Pax , Jon Klassen, New York Times bestseller, Caldecott medalist, Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award recipient, and two-time Caldecott Honoree, has created stunning jacket and interior illustrations. Review: Better than the first - This book tied up the loose ends left behind by the first book quite nicely. It was poignantly written with a hopeful feeling throughout The story to showcase the meaning of the phrase , the only way out is through. And it' s a reminder that we all need to be braver when life gets challenging in hopes that things get better at the other end. Review: Would Recommend - My son enjoys re-reading this book, would recommend!

Heartfelt and Touching
This follow up to Pax was just what I needed. The story of Peter and Pax continuing on in the most perfect way. This book is full of grit, love, and unexpected turns that end up exactly where they should.

loved it. loved both. deep and emotional
I'm so glad the author chose to make a sequel. It was just as good as the first though Just as painful to read. i really don't understand how this is a kid's book. i'm a grown woman and I find the book extremely deep and it is so intense and so sad. I know this book is about healing, but I cried so much. I didn't want the story to end. I finished the book in two days. I want more of the story. I wish the author would write more, but she said that was it. ๐ข

Average Book
Good book but the story arc was a little too slow moving for me, there wasn't much of a climax.

What an endearing story! Even better than the first book!
Hats off to Sara Pennypacker for topping her first novel, Pax. New characters and a poignant story line create an engrossing, bittersweet tail that can be enjoyed by young and old alike. There are some sad moments, but life has sad moments and it is wise not to sugar coat everything that young people read so they will know that life isnโt always fairytale perfect. There will be bumps in the road. This was why Walt Disney, in his infinite wisdom, had Bambiโs mother die in the fire. He too experienced tragic loss as a child, and it illustrates that young people can cope. It is a life lesson, told in a kind and gentle way which I found pitch perfect. I felt this story was both admirable and endearing. I highly recommend it to all ages.

Pax, The journey home
Well worth a read, especially if you have already read Pax. The story continues where it left off. The imagery and the way the author has written how the animals communicate is very well done. Although this is aimed at children I enjoyed it very much.
