Does Not Work Outside USA/Canada – Not Suitable for UAE Buyers
I purchased this Yale Assure 2 from Amazon UAE, expecting full smart-lock functionality. While the lock hardware powers on and the keypad works, the smart features are unusable. This model requires the Yale Access app, which is not supported in this region. The app fails during setup with errors such as “unable to find manufacturing info” and rejects the serial number, making it impossible to activate the lock or use any smart features. In practice, this product only works properly in the USA and Canada, where Yale Access is officially supported. Selling it in the UAE without clear warnings is misleading. Without the app, this becomes an overpriced keypad lock, not a smart lock. This product should not be sold in the UAE unless regional app support is available or this limitation is clearly disclosed to buyers.

*****Updated Review May 2024**** Device errors and overheats I bought this lock in Nov 2022 (so roughly 1.5 years now) and would highly discourage anyone buying this lock as it is dangerous and overheats. The battery issue has always been terrible on this product. It last maybe 1 months tops before needing replacement, so I'm constantly burning through batteries. A couple months ago, the lock was low on battery, so husband replaced it and then less then a week later the lock was again low on batteries. I thought perhaps my husband mixed up the double A batteries and put the low batteries back in by mistake and just let it be assuming it was a mistake. Just last week, the lock started giving error sounds that it wasn't locked even though the door was locked and then indicated it was low battery, so I changed it. Again, less than a week later it was low battery and continued having errors. When I went to open the compartment to replace the battery, I could smell smoke, and when I removed the front 2 batteries, I could see that the top coil touching the battery was so hot it was glowing red. I immediately removed the rest of the batteries from the hot coil/device and burnt my finger with a small shock in the process. When I contacted Yale, they did a simple apology, didn't care at all that I burnt my finger, that the device overheats or care to fix/understand why it was having potentially dangerous issues, but that the device is over a year old and since it was, out of warranty, and the most the can do is offer 20% discount on the next product. Such a terrible response. I will not be buying another product from them, especially if it puts me or my household in a potentially dangerous situation. ********" When this works, it's wonderful but due to the terrible battery life and finicky app I wouldn't recommend it. Set up: not as straight forward and took a lot of trial and error. The app set up also wasn't included and I had to call for them to tell me how to set it up since this was too new at the time. Battery: this thing just chews through batteries. I'll need new batteries every month and there's no way to see battery life. You get a warning sound when its almost dead and then within a day it'll stop working and you won't be able to lock your door from the outside unless you manually do it. Also, Everytime I put new batteries in it resets my connection to the app.... App: laggy. I get booted everytime I put new batteries in.

I love these locks. They are exactly what I wanted and more. I've only had them installed for a couple of weeks but they are working well. I like that they are Wifi enabled and don't depend on some other connectivity in the middle. I took my time to install these and I recommend you do the same. If the lock pocket is not clear so the mechanism can move properly the battery will likely wear out quickly. I spent a good 30 min manipulating my door frame with a chisel and a dremel tool to get it perfect. So far since I did that I've had zero issues with the lock working as expected. The actual install instructions are very well done. I like the included thickness guides. Just follow it step by step and it should go well. Initially you connect to the lock with your phone via bluetooth. This works fine and the lock can work this way indefinitely. The magic comes when you add the extra module. It includes Wifi and the best part is the magnetic sensor. The lock walks you through calibrating the sensor and once done it can tell you the status. It's open/closed, locked/unlocked. In addition to this I like the look and feel. I really hate the membrane type button locks on the market. I wanted a button I can see and feel and these have that. These are flat round buttons that light up so you can see them in the dark. The overall look is modern and clean. I do have two small functional complaints. First, I don't like that I have to hit a check mark button after I put in the code to activate the action. I would prefer if it activated as soon as the last digit of the valid code was entered. Second, while it looks nice the logo button activating the lock function is not clear. Put the logo above it and put a lock icon on it so it's clear. Minor complaints though. I really like the locks overall and unless I run into some unseen issue I will continue to buy these for my needs.

I just bought this as a christmas present to myself and was excited to get it installed. I have to say, the actual installation of the hardware was pretty straightforward and I got it done in about 30 mins. That's when the multitude of problems began. Firstly, trying to pair this thing with your phone is a tedious process. And good news! You're going to have to repeat this process over and over again to try to get it to connect and find your lock. Once it's connected in the Yale app you'll have to calibrate it a number of times. Once that's done it'll lock and unlock automatically in theory, but it seems to depend on how it's feeling at that particular moment. If you're like me you'll want to connect it to Apple Home so you can use a Homekey except that's not actually supported on this model. If you want that, it's on the Assure Lock 2 Plus which you can buy direct from Apple for 10 bucks less than this model. Regardless, you'll then have to try to pair it with your phone again. And again. And again. Anyway, I digress. This model also features an "auto-lock" function that randomly turns itself off quite regularly. I currently have it set to lock after 2 minutes. It's been unlocked for a solid 10 now and doesn't show any signs of wanting to do anything about it. I also turned on the handy "auto unlock" feature that will unlock your house when you arrive home. I was very pleased to see a "Welcome back. Unlocking your front door" message when I came home about 10 minutes ago. Less pleased to find the door still locked and a new message reading "Auto Unlock failed due to a communication error". Guess I must need to recalibrate it for the 9th time today. Anyway, I hate this stupid thing and I'm planning on throwing it in Lake Ontario
