Exceeded my expectations
I was delighted after unboxing and wearing the Armitron Rubik. Typically, at this price point, you're looking at a plastic or resin case with a flimsy strap. However, this watch feels much more premium compared to a similar-priced Casio. The case is made entirely of stainless steel, and the bracelet is impressively good. The finishing is quite decent, with consistent brushing on both the case and bracelet. Fortunately, the watch is not prone to scratches or fingerprints. In terms of functionality, it includes an alarm, stopwatch, and a second time zone. You can also set it to chime every hour, which I find quite handy. The display is clear and easy to read. My only gripe is the backlight, which is practically useless, as many reviewers have noted. However, this isn't a deal breaker for me. I would rate this watch 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5).

So much fun
Classic style digital time piece. If you enjoy the old metal squares of the 80’s you’ll really enjoy these. They feel stronger and more substantial since it’s a solid metal build. Does it have the greatest light for dark viewing? No but it looks and feels great, keeps excellent time and really add to the nostalgia factor. At such an easy price this is a no brainer. If you’re a fan of classic watches then grab one.

Excellent watch beyond competition
Excellent watch for its price! Glass is mineral, case is steel. Screen readability is not as good as Casio, but also at a fairly good level. Backlight is not bad, but the button is not always responsive and because of this sometimes flickering occurs and you need to press it again several times. Perhaps over time the button will become softer and the defect will be eliminated. I can recommend the watch for purchase.

What modern digital watches should be
Currently loving this watch. It's what I wish all of my Casios were. Stainless steel case, 50m water resistance, okay bracelet. I haven't even worn any of my significantly more expensive Swiss or Japanese automatics since getting this watch. After about a week the bracelet quit pulling the copious amounts of hair on my 7.5" wrist. I'm not sure why because the bracelet couldn't have broken in that quickly but regardless, doesn't pull hair like all of my Casios. I wish the bracelet had a bit more taper for aesthetics but the look is growing on me. I've only tested water resistance at very shallow depths but have had zero issues. Going to buy a second one just to have as a spare in case I lose this one. Great move by Armitron releasing a small retro digital that actually has a steel case, and it costs less than a dinner. I wish the rest of the watch industry would follow suit. Couldn't be happier with it.

The Watch Casio Should've Made
I've liked the look of Casio's low-end watches for a long time, but always found them to be just too plasticy. It feels like a toy. But they never make a metal version, or when they do the price jumps from $15 to $100. So I am so glad I found this. It has the classic look but feels substantial and durable. The pushers are pleasant to use, the chime is surprisingly loud for such a small watch, and the functions it has are easy to use. I do wish it had a timer as well as an alarm, but for the price it's not unreasonable. Like all these cheap digital watches, I find the metal band it came on totally useless, but it looks great on any 18mm strap, which I have a bunch of. I'm currently using a silicon OD green strap, but it looks good and wears well on NATO straps as well. My only major complaint is the backlight, which is indeed terrible. Though... The numerals are quite legible, even in low light, and the light is just barely bright enough to make it readable in total darkness. For me it works most of the time. And most other cheap digital watches also have terrible backlights. I wish every watch could have Timex Indiglo, but alas. Still, this is currently straight to the top of my favorite digital watches. I can't imagine it being unseated by anything that isn't substantially more expensive.

Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection
Wow the quality of this watch for the price crazy. Pictures do not do this watch justice. Beautiful watch, easy to operate, nice wieght and size. No complaints what so ever.

Too small
Pro: all stainless steel, not silver painted plastic, which gives a sense of quality. Neat retro vibe. Cons: far too small at least for me. Looks like a child’s or women’s watch. Perhaps that’s true to the original 80s design but not for me. Also, the backlight is useless.

Great 80s retro at a great price
Considering the case is stainless steel, this is a bargain for the price compared to similarly built digitals on the market elsewhere. It is on the small size (unisex definitely) and unremarkable in many ways - so not overtly retro looking like the Griffy.. But it does the job it's meant to and has the vintage look to it. Downsides - The backlight is useless. Maybe the case could be bigger and it could do with a countdown timer for the gym, cooking and whatnot.
