Same excellent quality in a bigger package
I love this stuff. I went through a 2oz package and when I went to resupply I saw the larger bag for not much more and knew I would be ordering more so...yes please! This sodium alginate mixes very well and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The resealable bag is thick, durable and seals airtight. I have found it mixes with hot, warm, room temp and cool water just fine. There's only a little extra work for cooler water. I haven't tried using in cold water. I haven't experimented with spherification yet but it's on the list. I have used this to make a very satisfying personal lube using 1 to 1⅛ tsp per cup (8oz) water. A mixer is very helpful but hand mixing isn't terribly labor intensive. I tend to use about 1⅛ tsp per cup as I like it a little less runny, but not more as it'll have more of a paste like consistency. A cup goes a long way. It will dry on the skin as it's mostly water which your skin will absorb, but not terribly fast. After it dries it leaves my skin feeling soft and I have not experienced any irritation and neither has my girl. I have also mixed in some fractionated coconut oil. I didn't measure it. I just added/mixed/added/mixed until I got the texture, consistency I was after. This is a great addition and makes it an extra slippery and longer lasting lube but the alginate/water mix will still eventually dry but the oil is still there and a dab or water, saliva or more of the lube renews it. When thoroughly mixed in, the coconut oil will change it from clear to a milky white color that looks very close to a certain male bodily excretion hahahaha! It's slippery, fun, body safe and a little goes a long way but a lot is a bunch of fun. I have used it to fill a water bottle with a bite spout or other airtight container to easily dispense it and store it in the fridge and away from sunlight. Supposedly it doesn't keep for more than a few days to a week. I guess the warnings have to do with spoilage or bacteria growth but coconut oil is bacteriostatic and the oil will separate and settle in top providing a later of safety but I still wouldn't mix up too much thinking you'll have a lot on hand for a while. In fact, the next time I make it, I'm going for a ½ cup of water and halving the alginate. I'll have to eye a half of an ⅛tsp. I've never seen a1/16tsp. Since the oil does separate you will need to give it a good shake before using it after it's been stored overnight. I haven't figured out a way to emulsify the oil to incorporate it fully. I haven't noticed any problems, like I said I only keep it in airtight containers, out of sunlight and in the fridge. It works great for full body type massages and other adult fun (solo or 1-on-1).

Great product, great price!
This seems to be good quality food-grade product, at a great price! I use it with calcium carbonate and bicarbonate of soda for acid reflux, and it really helps. Just a half-teaspoon or less of each in water after eating. I drink it down before the alginate swells up into a gel, letting it do that in my stomach. Then it forms a raft which prevents acid from washing up the esophagus.

Frozen dough
This is a 'magical' ingredient for making pizza dough that will hold up to freezing. Also good for spheriphication techniques if you're into molecular gastronomy.

As advertised...
Yes. Works for me. Looked at a lot of similar. This was equal or better quality for the best price. Delivered quickly before estimate. Will buy again.

Thickerer
Using this for thickening dye, and it seems to be working well. A little goes long way, and should last a good long time. Great value for the money

Great for science class!
I bought this for a demonstration in my science class where sodium alginate is mixed with sodium chloride. While the product is expensive, I don't need much for the demonstration. I will likely hold on to my package for years to come! For anyone purchasing this to do polymerization, I suggest using deionized water. I used my sink water the first time I prepped the alginate solution, and my water clearly has a lot of salt because the solution was very thick and extremely difficult to mix. However, the deionized water made an even solution with low viscosity.
