I’ve owned the HPE Instant On 1930 24-port switch since March 2025, and it’s been excellent. I haven’t encountered a single issue—it’s easy to deploy, and cloud management via the HPE Instant On app is a huge plus. I’ve used many networking products over the years, and this series genuinely feels well-built, which isn’t something I can say for all competitors. HP significantly elevated its networking portfolio with the Aruba acquisition, delivering a product suite backed by true enterprise expertise. I also run AP22 access points for Wi-Fi coverage and have had zero issues there as well. Best of all, there are no expensive annual licensing fees, making HPE’s platform far more affordable for small and medium businesses, as well as prosumer households with heavy multimedia needs or remote workers who require reliable, multi-WAN high availability when integrating their secure gateway (router/firewall).

I have to say that deploying this set up was delightful. I can’t think of any other term that describes it. I do part time consulting and am a network engineer full time in a data center, but my go to for any and all future SOHO clients in the future will be Aruba. It’s like Meraki without all the licensing BS. If you need advanced networking, you may need to continue to look elsewhere, but this will suite most network deployments that need segmentation. I coupled this unit with a couple of instant on APs and a Fortigate firewall. The cloud app on your pc or phone gives you great insight into what’s happening on the network too, and being able to check settings or change things on the phone app allows for quick resolutions to issues if they arise. All this at a price that’s roughly 1/3-1/4 of what Cisco or Meraki are asking? Yeah, it’s good.

Fine working switch, in use with two access points Aruba Instant On AP22 802.11ax 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 I have replaced the fan with a Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM, Premium Quiet Fan, 4-Pin (40x20mm, Brown) as the OEM-one was too loud for the room. This switch sits in a rack with the door closed and was still audible in the hallway with the doors closed. Replacement was done in 30 minutes. Be aware that the Noctua had not the correct screws for fit in the switch. Aruba has a nice performance and equipment is in stock, unlike Ubiquity,.

I wasn't looking to spend thousands of dollars for a simple but robust network. These switches filled the need to have POE, a configurable and reliable network, at a less expensive cost. I wouldn't use them in a complex network needing many VLANS and multiple hops, but in a simple network with only 2 or 3 VLANS and single switch connections they are reliable and dependable.
