Glad to have a digital copy of old minidv tapes.
Perfect cable to connect my Sony digital camcorder to a 2011 MacBook Air and transfer tapes. I used a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter I already had to connect this cable to my MacBook air. Importing into movie worked. Glad to have digital copies of my miniDV tapes.

Works just fine
Yes, I still own a mac laptop with both FireWire plugs and a DV cam that speaks FireWire. This works. Pretty heavyweight, so not super-flexible.

Adequate "iLink" cable
I used this for my mini-dv recorder that needed an iLink cable to transfer video to my Mac. This cable was perfect for the job although there are some issues with the recording of the media to my computer. I don't know if it's the tapes, player or cable. I will do some further investigation but for now, the cable is suiting my purposes.

Works for Mac with Thunderbolt adapter
It works. I use this to import video from an old Canon DV camera to a Mac Studio with the Thunderbolt to Firewire, then Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter, (yes you need all this) and it works great. Quicktime or iMovie can see the camera and allow import of the DV footage.

Works for what i needed for my mini DV tape to digital conversion project. Saved me a lot of money going this route with my older mac with fireport rather than the route requiring multiple expensive adapters to utilize my newer mac book.

Perfect for downloading video from minicam
So thrilled. Worked perfectly for downloading videos from Canon hv20 camcorder to Mac mini. Seamless.

Works as expected on my old MacBook
I have an old Sony camcorder and old MacBook Pro. I'd like to transfer the video from the camcorder, the only practical way is to use a firewire-800 cable. Honestly I don't know if USB to firewire works or not, I don't want to waste money and time. With this cable, the setup works flawlessly.

Worked as advertised on an older Mac mini. Needed a FireWire connection to a camcorder. No issues.

Doesn't work. Tested with a range of equipment to confirm it wasn't something else causing the issues - just this dodgy cable. Unfortunately, money down the drain and will have to invest in one elsewhere.
