Do these give off heat? I have had some that do not.

It gives off some heat, but not a lot.

I have a prefab wood-gas fireplace I have a on off switch installed with wire in fp I have a gas line with key . How do i hook up the switch start?

This particular log set comes as a "Match Lit" kit, which means that the only way to light it is to use a match while turning on the gas with your key valve. To turn the unit on using your wall switch requires purchasing a switchable auto pilot safety kit. This type of valve can be obtained directly from an RH Peterson dealer and can be installed after the fact if lighting with a match/gas lighter becomes inconvenient.

Are the embers adjustable? I am not a fan of the embers on the bottom of the fireplace.

the ember effect is created by adding a cotton-like substance to the sand. If you don't want the ember effect you can scale back or not add any.

My dimensions for vented gas fireplace is 14” deep /19” wide across back and 28” wide in front - will the 24 inch live oak kit for .?

Neither the 24-inch or the 18-inch will fit. The 18-inch requires at least 24 inches of width at 14 inches of depth
