While it says you can't use while playing music on the speakers... has anyone tried and if so what kind of sound comes through?

There is absolutely a significant drop in sound quality if you play your music through these covers. There is a very muffled sound - I actually turned the covers around and opened the zipper just to expose the speaker grill but leave the top covered and protected from the sun.

Do these provide any protection against humidity? I live in Central Florida, humidity is a concern for any outdoor electronic.

Sure they do. The covers are made from 600D material which is a little like the material used for sports bags and BBQ covers. It is water resistant and will handle humidity. Thank you, Ariel Customer Care

Is it waterproof as opposed to weatherproof? Can it handle a day or so of rain and not hurt the speaker?

The material is 600D polyester which is the same material ski bags and wet gear bags are made of. So that part can handle water no problem. Having said that, the zipper we provide for mounting on speaker stands, is actually a more sensitive area. We had no issues and some rain is fine, but an intensive water treatment would not be a good idea. I would call this level of cover water resistant. Thank you, Ariel Customer Care
