Why are you answering a question when you zero car audio knowledge? This is not what you think it is. This is not 8 AWG(American Wire Gauge) copper wire. This is 14 AWG copper clad aluminum wire, keyword being aluminum. I wouldn’t trust this wire for 100 watts. Although BOSS amps are so overrated that it could handle a 1000 watt BOSS because a 1000 watt BOSS amp really only does about 100 watts. You guys are going to start a fire or at minimum the wire will melt. I can tell how many people have said that this wiring kit power wire melted. **Q: What gage is the speaker wire?** A: Do not buy this! The power wire will melt. It’s not what you think it is. It’s not copper and it’s not 8 gauge. It’s aluminum and it’s 14 Gauge power wire, idk what the speaker wire is but that’s aluminum also, not copper and probably 22 gauge. I would never recommend this amp kit for any reason **Q: can it handle a boss 400 watt amp?** A: yes with ease I have tested it on a few dif amps and now have found it will handle upto a 800 watt rms amp befor it starts to get hot but at 1000 watts rms it started melting **Q: does the fuse holder come with a fuse installed or do i need to pick one up and if so what kind** A: It comes with the fuse holder and the fuse you have to install it but that's simple to do just install it about 6inches from the battery :) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect *by I***H on August 25, 2026* Came with everything I needed ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excelente producto *by V***. on October 10, 2026* Excelente producto ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Complete kit at low price *by G***E on August 2, 2011* This is an average kit nothing special. I hook it up to my amp and comes with everything you needed to complete amp and subwoofer installation, however the wires being used is thin as other reviews stated but on the positive note its insulation is thick. For the price it's a great bargain. Would recommend this to anyone for the price this product is not bad at all it does the job. Update:1-5-2012 After almost five months of used with this product it still performs what it is intended for, without problems as other reviewers encountered. I used this kit to hooked up to a 1000 watts amp. As a reminder this kit comes with all the wires, connectors and fuse with fuseholder. Remember this unit is intended for a high flow current use for a high powered amp and since this kit has thin wires in it, it is a neccessity to solder the tip of the wires to its corresponding connectors and thighten it properly when installing. As with connecting the positive wire to the fuse holder be sure also to solder the bare stripped wire before connecting it to the latter and thighten it properly and you'll be glad you did. Even with the thickest wires used if not install properly will cause shorts or even fires.
